Nicholes Nunley

WGMS Director of Bands
Mr. Nunley is from the Dallas, Texas area where he attended Cedar Hill High School and graduated in 2015. Mr. Nunley attended The University of Texas at Austin and received his degree in Music Studies. He was a Horn player in the UT Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony, Symphony Band, and played Mellophone in the Longhorn Band, and Longhorn Pep Band. He also studied abroad in Cape Town, South Africa!
Upon graduation in 2019, Mr. Nunley accepted the assistant band director position at Summer Creek Middle School in Crowley ISD where he has led the Non-Varsity band to successful performances at the UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Evaluation. During his time at Summer Creek he was awarded with multiple teaching grants, helped start a Jazz Band class, and recruited the largest beginning band class in school history!
In his free time, Mr. Nunley is the Interim Artistic Director of the Dallas Oak Lawn Symphonic Band which is a community ensemble that has existed for over 40 years made up high school to professional level musicians. He also enjoys watching new movies, traveling the world, and staying in shape by running and working out.
Mr. Nunley teaches the Honors Band and Symphonic Band 2 classes, assists with Symphonic Band 1 class, and teaches Beginning clarinet and low brass classes.

Samuel Farrell

WGMS Assistant Band Director
Mr. Farrell earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education at Texas A&M Commerce. While at Commerce, he performed in the Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Phillip Clements, and studied with the Horn studio under Michael Morrow. Mr. Farrell also served for three years as Drum Major for the TAMUC Pride Marching Band, performing with the marching band at BOA Super Regionals in San Antonio, as well as BOA Grand Nationals in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mr. Farrell also has experience with Drum Corps International, as he marched Mellophone with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps in 2019.
In previous years, Mr. Farrell spent his summers and fall semesters as a marching technician for Rowlett High School in Rowlett, TX, and as a Drum Major clinician for John Horn High School in Mesquite, TX. Most recently, Mr. Farrell was on the Marching Band Staff for the Marcus High School Marching Band for their 2021 season. Mr. Farrell also finished his student teaching in 2022 at Marcus High School and Lamar Middle School in Flower Mound, TX.
Mr. Farrell’s professional memberships include Kappa Kappa Psi, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Band Masters Association, Young Band Directors of Texas, and the International Horn Society. Mr. Farrell enjoys snowboarding, watching TV, and spending time with his family and puppy.
Mr. Farrell teaches the Symphonic Band 1, assists with the Honors Band, and teaches Beginning Trumpet, Horn, and Euphonium classes. He will also be teaching the brass class at Heritage HS and assisting with the Mighty Jaguar Marching Band!

Rich Bahner

Heritage HS Director of Bands
Rich Bahner is the Director of Bands at Midlothian Heritage HS. Previously, he served as Director of Bands and Percussion Specialist at Hall Middle School in Weatherford ISD since 2012. His bands were consistently awarded "Sweepstakes" at UIL, earned Outstanding Band honors at multiple contests, and grew to 300 students. Formerly, he served as Associate Director of Bands and Director of Percussion Studies at Tarleton State University. During his tenure, he directed the Sound & the Fury (marching band), Concert Band, Percussion Studio, and implemented the PANdemonium (steel drum band) and Percussion Ensemble. His drill design and percussion arrangements have been used throughout Texas and Oklahoma. He also enjoys working as an adjudicator and clinician, presenting clinics for the PASIC, NFA and TMEA conventions. He spent eleven years marching and teaching in Drum Corps International (DCI), and he is sponsored by the Sabian Cymbal and Promark Stick corporations.
Mr. Bahner holds a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Oklahoma State University and a Master's Degree in Percussion and Conducting from Texas Christian University. His professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Percussive Arts Society. At Walnut Grove MS, Mr. Bahner teaches the beginner percussion class, and assists with the concert band classes. At Heritage HS, Mr. Bahner leads the Mighty Jaguar Band, conducts the Wind Symphony, teaches the percussion class, and assists with Honors Band and Jazz Band.
